Be Inspired at New Hope Arts
New Hope has long been a haven of the artistic community — painters, sculptors, actors, musicians and other visionaries — who, over the years, have left their talented mark and added to the town’s creative energy. New Hope Arts was founded with the vision of furthering the heritage of this vibrant arts community and providing space for contemporary artists to create, collaborate and present their work. Immerse yourself in the cultural pulse of the region with a visit to New Hope Arts when you stay with us at the Inn at Bowman’s Hill during your next Bucks County getaway.
Established in 2002, New Hope Arts has evolved into a dynamic hub that celebrates various forms of artistic expression, from visual arts and sculpture to performing arts and beyond. The center achieves its mission to promote and support the arts in the Delaware Valley region through a diverse range of programs, exhibitions and educational initiatives. One of the center’s defining features is its commitment to showcasing a broad spectrum of artistic expressions. Gallery spaces offer a visual feast for visitors, and rotating exhibits ensure that there’s always something new to discover, keeping the artistic landscape fresh and engaging.
There are six to eight exhibitions annually that showcase established artists as well as emerging ones across a broad array of media. The crown jewel of these shows is Works in Wood, now in its 24th year. Running from Dec. 9 to Jan. 14, Works in Wood is a national juried show that features artwork from the finest talent in the country, with nearly 60 craftspeople exhibiting their work. On display are functional and non-functional works, studio furniture, turnings, constructions, free standing and wall-mounted sculpture, and vessels, in which artists must use wood for at least 50% of their composition.
The impact of New Hope Arts extends beyond its physical walls. The Public Arts Program is an effort to bring sculpture installations to public spaces, roadways and paths in historic New Hope along the Delaware River. The center also has become an integral part of the region’s cultural calendar, hosting events that draw people from near and far. Annual festivals and collaborative projects with neighboring institutions are an extension of New Hope Arts’ artistic enrichment efforts and solidify the center’s vital role in the local arts scene. The New Hope Film Festival and the Bucks County Playhouse Student Theater Festival are two such collaborations.
