Catch a Rockin Holiday Show at the Bucks County Playhouse
On the site of a former grist mill on the banks of the Delaware River, the Bucks County Playhouse has played a starring role in the history of this small Pennsylvania town with a big city feel. Opened in 1939, the playhouse grew to become one of the premier summer theatres in the nation. Over the years, numerous Broadway and Hollywood stars have graced its stage including Tyne Daly, Grace Kelly, Angela Lansbury, Robert Redford, Andrea McArdle and James Earl Jones – to name a few. Each year, the playhouse presents six to nine original productions featuring stars of stage and screen, as well as 25+ visiting artists presentations.
On stage at the Bucks County Playhouse this holiday season is a show that's bound to have you dancing in your seats. Ring in the season with Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Elvis Presley in the rockin' production of "Million Dollar Quartet Christmas." Inspired by the Tony Award-nominated hit musical "Million Dollar Quartet," this brand-new holiday reimagining once again brings together four rock 'n' roll legends for a musical celebration jam-packed with classic holiday hits and favorite chart toppers like “Jingle Bell Rock,” “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree,” “Don’t Be Cruel” and “Blue Christmas.”
The scene is December 1956, and Sun Records is all decked out for the season with a Christmas tree, garland and mistletoe. This holiday musical extravaganza brings the boys back together to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year! Follow along with the gang’s usual antics and journey through a story of Christmas past, present and future at a moment when no one knew if rock 'n' roll was a fad or a revolution. "Million Dollar Quartet Christmas" brings that momentous homecoming to life with an electrifying tale of family, nostalgia, faith, humor, heart break and revelry.
Make it a night at the theatre you'll never forget by enjoying a delicious meal before the show or a festive beverage afterward at the Playhouse Deck. This restaurant, which sits behind and is attached to the playhouse, offers riverside dining with Mediterranean-inspired dishes from house-made pasta to inspired salads and delicious fish entrees. The chef-driven menus are creative, bright and fun to complement the liveliness of the theater. Plus, every dollar spent at Playhouse Deck supports the nonprofit mission of the Bucks County Playhouse.
"Great theatre is about challenging how we think and encouraging us to fantasize about a world we aspire to." — Willem Dafoe
