Find the Perfect Pour at Bucks County Craft Breweries
Would you be surprised to learn that Pennsylvania is ranked the No. 2 beer-producing state in the U.S.? It's true! Our breweries produce 3.6 million barrels of beer per year, second only to California. While most of that is non-craft brands, the popularity of craft beer is booming. Pennsylvania is home to more than 400 craft breweries, and two dozen of those are right here in Bucks County.
You can hop on the Bucks County Ale Trail and navigate your way to all of the breweries and taprooms scattered across the county. If you're staying with us at the Inn at Bowman's Hill, there are several great places to wet your whistle in New Hope or nearby. No matter what style of craft beer quenches your thirst — from traditional German-style lagers to experimental IPAs and much more — you're sure to find the perfect pour close by.
Start your self-guided brew tour at Triumph Brewing Co., which opened its New Hope brewhouse in 2003. Triumph brews traditional styles from around the world with a concentration in lagers. The on-site brewmaster maintains eight rotating beers on tap — from a blonde ale to an Irish dry stout. Pair your pint with something from their full menu of contemporary American cuisine.
Also in New Hope are two taprooms for craft beer produced elsewhere in Bucks County. Great Barn Brewery is a farm microbrewery that grows and brews with its own barley. At their New Hope taproom, you'll find hazy IPAs, fruited pale ales, oak-aged Belgian tripels and more. Neshaminy Creek Brewing Company opened its New Hope taproom inside Ferry Market in 2020. You can select from eight rotating taps of their core brand, seasonal and one-off beers, plus grab a 4-pack or 6-pack to go.
Outside of New Hope, but still within a 15-20 minute drive of our inn, you can explore four more craft breweries. Newtown Brewing Company in Newtown is a family brewery and taproom where you can sample a variety of beer styles, from light and dark lagers to wheat beers and session IPAs. A rotating schedule of food trucks provides tasty options to enjoy with your beer, or you're welcome to bring your own food. At Mad Princes Brewing in Buckingham, the brewmasters like to explore uncommon and undervalued beers, with about a half-dozen on tap. Take, for instance, the Bivalve Curious Oyster and Squid IPA, a dry stout made from oyster hops described as both luscious and briny.
Vault Brewing Company in Yardley offers a drinkable mix of pilsners, lagers and IPAs. Enjoy pizza, salads and sandwiches from their brewpub menu and be sure to visit on a Friday or Saturday night to listen to live jazz. Warwick Farm Brewing in Jamison grows its own hops, and you can view the hops fields from the outdoor beer garden. Check out their special events, which include beer pairing dinners and beer festivals.
When you're done exploring these nearby craft breweries and taprooms, have your designated driver or Uber bring you back to the Inn at Bowman's Hill to nestle in for a quiet, relaxing stay.
